i'm not that fussed about paying top dollar to your best players.

guys at the bottom take the hit. just need to squeeze the bottom of the roster more.

Wouldn't giving him 3rd/4th line minutes basically be what St Louis tried? I think it would be a waste of money, give Kapanen a full time spot this year and fill in any holes with whoever. They'd still probably be better than Yak.
